A member asked:

I had bladder pain for several days. i had abdominal cramps while moving, and back pain going up towards my kidneys the first day. i went to the doctor and she said i was dehydrated. tests for infection were negative. why can dehydration mimic a uti?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Crystals: The chemicals in urine get concentrated during dehydration and may irritate the bladder. The material in urine may also form crystals on concentrating and crystals can cause pain. Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. Get HPV vaccine
