Very Common: First of all, it's good that you go to l&d for menstrual-type cramps to ensure that you're not in preterm labor. A urine test can easily be done to screen for infection and treatment is very effective. While it is common to have cramps from dehydration, it is more important to be evaluated for labor. Drink fluids as recommended and if you are unable to hydrate, sometimes an IV infusion can help.
