A member asked:

Is it a painful procedure when the dentist has to insert the dry socket paste into the affected area?

Not the paste: The drilling may hurt if not properly anesthesized but the paste won't.

Not really: The area is already a bit sore, so it will be a little uncomfortable. There will be more pain without the paste, so pick the lesser of the two.

Less painful, than..: The treatment of a dry socket is not painless, but it is more tolerable than the pain of the dry socket and relief is almost immediate as it helps to rekindle the healing process!
