Infection: Dry socket is a condition where the original blood clot that formed over the opening of an extraction site becomes dislodged and exposes the bone, nerves and blood vessels to air. It is painful but should not exhibit pus coming out. This pus indicates that a secondary infection has occurred for which you need antibiotics. See an urgent care Dr for exam and treatment with antibiotics.

Possibly: Dry socket occurs when clot washes out of extraction site, leaving bone exposed. Pus indicates a secondary infection probably ly initiated by the failed root canal. Please call your treating Dentist for probable antibiotic therapy.
