CBT: Although I am not sure how you have tried to cope in the past, i would suggest you look into cognitive-behavioral therapy (cbt) resources for panic. A therapist who is skilled in cbt can effectively treat panic in a short amount of time (9 to 16 sessions) if the client is motivated to do so. Search amazon for "treatment of anxiety and panic" in the "treatments that work" series.
