Proctologist: I have found that your type of occasional bleeding of small amounts of bright red blood in a bowel movement is more likely to come from superficial entities like hemorrhoids or a fissure. Mild rectal inflammation is another possibility. I believe that a proctologist is more helpful than a gastroenterologist for diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.
