Maybe: A traditional ct of the abdomen/pelvis is not very good at finding small cancers. A ct colonography or traditional colonoscopy are better test for small cancers. Check with your doctor, but ct colonography/colonoscopy sounds like a reasonable next step. The advantage of colonoscopy is the ability to perform a biopsy if something is found.

Not really: A normalct scan is not the best test for evaluating your colon and rectum, you ought to get a colonoscopy as a minimal a sigmoidoscopy to evaluate your symptoms.

Let me advise you: Pencil thin stools can be caused by a narrowing in the colon, rectum or anus, or may occur as a result of many things. Pencil thin stools may accompany other symptoms, which vary depending on the underlying disease, disorder or condition. Conditions that affect the digestive tract may also involve other body systems. I strongly advise you to have coloscopy. Good luck.
