Mild soap is fine: probably won't even sting. But if it does, just rinse well with warm water and it will do almost as much good. Apply a warm compress afterwards if there is any swelling or drainage continuing.

I had an abscess in my armpit that was lanced and drained four days ago, and I just noticed a hard lump thats bigger than the original abscess slightly above the incision site, it's hard and painful when touched, is this normal?
My son of 12 years old was at the docter yesterday. There are 3 abscesses under his arm (armpit) and a swollen gland. The docter drained the 1 abscess. Must I be worried about the gland?
