A member asked:

How long after having an absess drained from your armpit can you shower?

Abscess care: This would depend on factors such as the size, degree of active drainage and whether there is packing still present in the wound. Clean soap and water rarely worsen the situation, but maintaining a stable environment for healing is most important. Half strength peroxide and saline irrigation will help keep it clean with packing as needed to promote healing.

ReadDischargeInstruc: It depends on the size of the Abscess and if there was gauze packing inside and what instruction you were given by the surgeon or the nurse Most of the time you are instructed to change the dressing and gauze pack may be moved in surgeon's office or instructed to remove yourself Usually you can bath or shower in 2to3 days but ask your surgeon or read wat the instructions say
