Lumbar Radiculopathy: Knowing the source of the symptoms is important providing care. Pain extending into the big toe usually indicates a L5 nerve root problem and pain that extends into the baby toe is typically the S1 nerve root. Many times physiotherapy is started prior to knowing the source of symptoms and some problems will improve with time and therapy while others may benefit from an injection or surgery.
