Have it confirmed: If you test positive for strep you will need a separate med for it.The flagyl will not cure it. Many sore throats are self healing viral infections, so a quick office test should be done to make sure you need another med.

Flagyl and strep: Do you think you have strep due to having sore throat symptoms or because a doctor diagnosed it? You can have a throat swab done to confirm strep throat. Flagyl does not treat strep throat. Return to your doctor for confirmation of diagnosis.

White spots on back of throat does not necessarily mean strep. Throat swab/ physician exam needed to confirm diagnosis.
