Difficult: It often depends on the findings of an endoscopic. Both diseases produce pain or burning and both can cause blood loss. Be examined and consider an endoscopy. All the best.

Explanation : Yes, it's different, but partially overlapping. Severity and localization of pain, timing this pain and other symptoms may be different. To make a proper diagnosis you need endoscopy. Treatment are complex with few medications and depend on endoscopy result, but pretty successful.

Severity of symptoms: Gastritis is inflammation/swelling of the stomach lining. If it is severe enough it can lead to damage of the surface leading to erosion and an ulcer crater Ulcers are more painful and longer to heal
