A member asked:

Throat discomfort so had thyroid ultrasound. 'mildly enlarged' no further action from my doctor. could it be causing the symptoms? what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Thyroid & Symptoms: In light of your ultrasound, a "mildly enlarged" thyroid is very unlikely to be causing your throat discomfort. A esophageal stricture was mentioned in your findings - and this can cause throat discomfort if it is located high up. It is wise based on the thyroid ultrasound to be sure your TSH level is normal since the ultrasound finding can at times be associated with a change in thyroid function.
