Most numbness: problems are caused by some sort of nerve compression or dysfunction. Meralgia paresthetica is caused by compression of the lateral cutaneous nerve which supplies feeling to the outer thigh. In many cases the cause is not known; sometimes tight clothing, seat belt injury, weight gain. It usually resolves on its own. Wear looser clothing, lose weight if needed, OTC Tylenol or ibuprofen. Stay well:)
