A member asked:

Severe pain from sesamoiditis ~3 mos worsening even with pt and modified excercise. mri scheduled, but doc doubts fracture. what treatments can help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Offloading: If the MRI is negative or even before that you can take the pressure off of the sesamoids with an orthotic or padding in your shoes, this should help with the pain. Your doctor could modify your shoe insert to help with this. Also you should not go barefoot, as this puts more pressure on the area. and avoid heeled shoes or shoes with a very narrow toe box.
