Open sesame.: Anyone who has experience in treating sesamoiditis should not have much difficulty in recognizing it. Recognition is easier when only one sesamoid is affected. It is necessary to make sure a sesamoid fracture is not at a possibility. I routinely order specialized views of the sesamoid complex on both feet to identify and compare sesamoid structure on the affected as well as the unaffected foot.
