It : It sort of depends on where the fracture is, but this is a somewhat unusual situation. We typically do not advocate surgery for (what sounds like) a non-displaced fracture, but rather treat these conservatively with splints or functional braces, occasionally short periods of casting and protected weight-bearing with cane, crutches, walker, whatever it takes to diminish the pain. It would also be advisable to assess with your physician if the patient has any condition or is on any medications that mind hamper the healing process. Was there a specific trauma after which the leg hurt?
