Zantac: Zantac should be effective without the various adverse side effects of PPI's now being publicized in recent years. I assume that a gastroenterologist is supervising your care, knows the diagnosis, and provides the best advice and follow-up for you. A peptic ulcer should have healed after PPI therapy and the question is whether you have ongoing GERD and why it can't be brought under better control.

Maybe : The Zantac should help calm things down. Other things you can do to help is avoid acidic foods such as orange juice and tomato sauce. Drink plenty of water. Nothing to eat for three hours before lying down (you want your stomach empty), and angle your head up a little when you sleep.
