The tongue is: naturally covered with small bumps. Red bumps frequently appear on the back of the tongue; they tend to be larger and are called circumvalate papillae. When you are ill (you have the body aches and chills) they often become more prominent. It sounds consistent with a mild upper respiratory illness .. although your foot pain is likely something else?! Stay well:)
