Would probably need: an actual consult with a healthcare provider to get a culture for the bacteria (or yeast) that may be causing your infection symptoms. Cipro is the most common empiric antibiotic given by providers for a simple UTI, but there are many resistant bacteria that will not respond to Cipro. Bactrim is a competent antibiotic as well, though you need to drink plenty of water and watch for allergic signs
