Nonbacterial causes of UTI-like symptoms and inflammation of the urinary tract includes fungal infection, adverse drug reaction, interstitial cystitis, heavy metal (eg lithium), and uric acid and hypercalcemic irritation. More remote possibilities include granulomatous diseases (eg, sarcoid or tuberculosis), polycystic kidney disease or genitourinary malignancy.
