It is safe: It is safe to take bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) for 30 days. Normally though, treatment for 30 days is to prevent recurring infections rather than treat an ongoing one.

I've had a UTI for 3 wks & I've been on 3 diff antibiotics with little relief. I've taken Bactrim Cipro (ciprofloxacin) & Macrobid & it's still here. Could it be IC?
Uti Macrobid 10 days. No help. Now kidney infection 500 mg cipro (ciprofloxacin) 2xday. Been 4 days still symptomatic. 3 days left on meds. Dr didn't culture urine.
2nd time in 2 mo that I have a UTI 1st time took bactrim and now cipro (ciprofloxacin) it's okay to take it if trying to get pregnant and it'sto soon to take a test.
Uti wont go away. Taken bactrim, then cipro, (ciprofloxacin) symptoms persist. Doc is doing urine culture. Do you think probiotic or d-mannose would help me?
