Difficulty falling: A sleep is often associated w/anxiety while waking up early and not returning to sleep is associated w/depression. Periodic waking is associated w/overall light sleep. Sleep study?: Hi, what you experience about the sleep might not be uncommon, but the question is whether you feel refreshed the next day, Does this kind of sleep pattern affect your daily function. If so, I would start with a sleep study, then try some over the counter sleep aids for a couple days. if all fails, go see your PCP to make sure all your lab results are in the normal range.
