Talk man to man: I'm a pathologist and i've autopsied four people that this has happened to. All four were either very drunk or so old and (forgive me) decrepit that they couldn't manage their swallowing any more. I focus on these things and I have never even heard of a physically-fit non-intoxicated person having this happen to them. Recognize the fear as unrealistic & choose your next step accordingly.
