A member asked:

Red throat no pain for 2 weeks. np wants to prescribe prednisone, but what is causing this? should i be concerned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hmmm.....: A person with throat redness (on the inside) but no pain can still be evaluated for the usual causes of sore throats, irritated throats, and post-nasal drip. If there is a good reason to use prednisone (a corticosteroid medication), then it would be ok to use... such as in cases of mono where the tonsils are huge and causing symptoms. If worried, one can go get examined by an actual physician.
