A member asked:

I've been having asthma, postnasal drip and a red throat for six days. redness and swelling where tonsil used to be. no fever. taking beclomethasone spray, antihistamine, leftover prednisone. should i see doctor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can examine: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold, influenza, or adenovirus (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, one sees the doctor if the symptoms are bothersome, recurrent or don't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Lozenges, Tylenol, or Motrin can lessen pain temporarily.
