Stress is part: of life. We cannot completely avoid it but we can manage it. Start by making healthy life choices. Then work toward accepting the fact that life is not fair but can be good. Avoiding Stress: How do you avoid mental stress? 1) Understand, not all stress is bad. 2) Appraise a situation that is usually stressful to you with a less catastrophizing attitude and set of thoughts. 3) Employ breathing and breath control exercises to pause what is happening, when it's happening. 4) Slow down (walking, talking, eating, speaking) 5) Take on less to do in the same amount of time.
