Trainer's wrong: Eat a healthy well-balanced diet, just eat less than you burn off. There's no magic food. You don't want to restrict or increase any of the three: protein, carbohydrate or fat, as all have important functions. Personal trainers generally don't have any formal nutritional education; that's why their trainers, not dietitians. See a dietitian for more expert advice.
