Sorry, it is not: Interstitial lung disease describes a large numbers of disorders, most of which cause progressive scarring of lung tissue. The scarring associated with interstitial lung disease eventually affects your ability to breathe and get enough oxygen into your bloodstream. Once lung scarring occurs, it's generally irreversible. So far no cure.

Scar tissue: Ild is scar tissue that is in the lungs. There are many causes for this and some are treatable and some are not. The doctor will run test to try to determine the cause and severity of the illness. Once scars have developed then no you can not remove them. Attempts to slow the progression of this is based on cause. Lung transplant in severe cases. Not always treatable.
