Cough is usually multi factorial so a lung doctor should definitely be seen to manage the cough. For interstitial lung disease it can be difficult to treat. Is the patient on steroids? That is sometimes helpful. Inhaled bronchodilator and steroid can be tried. No specific diet is needed. Good luck!
