It can occur.: First, make sure you are not ccp antibody positive. If you are, your rf is irrelevant. Pulmonary fibrosis can occur in psoriatic arthritis and spondylitis, as well as a number of connective tissue diseases. Does anyone in family have psoriasis? Also, it can occur as a rare reaction to methotrexate. Are you being treated with this? Hope these points help.

Self-perpetuating: You are referring to common hamman-rich fibrosing alveolitis, correct? Lately the physics that keeps interstitial lung disease going was worked out; the fibrosis that has begun puts an extra stretch on areas of the alveolar walls and by its nature damages them, perpetuating the process. Your best hope is to find a treatable underlying cause though generally there is none. I'm sorry & wish u luck.

See Dr., then eat...: If one is truly underweight (based on height, family background, and body type), a Dr. can evaluate for a hormonal, digestive, or other disorder. If no medical cause is found, then one can add weight by eating more calories of nutritious foods, while also doing weight-training to increase muscle. Proteins: egg white, chicken breast, salmon, ... Better fats: olive oil, peanuts, almonds, tofu, ....

Spondyloarthropathy: Seronegative spondyloarthropathy is a form of arthritis that does not have the typical rheumatoid factor antibodies. There are other inflammatory diseases, mostly immune system disorders, that do not have autoantibodies and are thus seronegative. Typically, autoimmune diseases are characterized by autoantibody formation and thus would not be seronegative.
