Depends: Can't tell how difficult the extraction was, but a couple of day's worth of discomfort is not out of the ordinary. Pain meds should take the edge off of the pain. Always a chance of dry socket.. Speak to your dentist if needed.

Yes: Slight pain is normal. If you are having sever pain you need to return to dentist to make sure you dont HAV a dry socket.

Yes: You can expect to have some post operative pain for 7-10 days post an ext.. But the pain should be manageable first few days with meds that control moderate levels of pain, tylenol (acetaminophen) #3, but after the third day, over the counter meds like extra strength tylenol (acetaminophen) 500mg should be enough. If after a week, you are still having pain, or if the pain is severe, see your dentist for a possible dry socket.

Most likely: If you have no or minimal pain postop and suddenly increased in the day 3, you may have dry socket, since infection usually starts at day 3. Dry socket is treated with Clindamycin (antibiotic), and dry socket dressing. If you have pain before the procedure and pain continue but tapering off or exhibit any sign of tapering off, then it is normal. Ibuprofen, or Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack will help!
