Seen answer: It’s not uncommon for one imaging examination to detect an “incidentaloma” – an unrelated observation in the obtained images. Talk to your dr. / radiologist – they may want to confirm this observation with a renal ultrasound or possibly a repeat MRI – if it is a renal cyst, these are common, and usually not of clinical consequence.

Do not worry: Kidney cysts are very common and frequently found on MRI scans done for other reasons. Just tell your md that you want to have it followed. Ultrasound is a good way to do that, it is harmless, and will show which category your cyst is in. The appearance allows to grade them from absolutely benign to malignant.
