A member asked:

My mri found a t2 hypointense lesion on my kidney. two followup ultrasounds over a 6 month period showed an anechoic spot/ simple cyst. can these ultra sounds rule out disease or do i need further imaging?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cysts: An anechoic lesion means no echos and is usually a fluid filled cyst. I assume there were no changes over a 6 month follow-up. This is pretty convincing evidence for a simple kidney cyst. Ask the radiologist if this is a simple category one renal cyst which requires no further follow-up.
