Hot blooded...: The application of heat to damaged tissues causes an increase of the blood flow to those tissues. With the increase of blood also comes an increase of wound healing molecules that are carried in the blood. These include proteins, oxygen and sugars. Secondarily, many of the chemical reactions involved in wound healing are accelerated with warmer temperatures as opposed to cooler temperatures.
