My jaw is hurting a lot and i cannot open my mouth or eat (i have a sever deep bite but never experienced jaw pain). i recently started invisalign and am currently on tray 4. could invisalign cause the problem? should i continue to wear invisalign?

Possibly: Did your dentist go over the potential side effects of Invisalign before you started? I think you should go back to the dentist and be evaluated.

Its possible: Your deep bite probably had a lot of contact on the front teeth. Invisalign puts a double layer of plastic on the back teeth and opens the bite. Not everyone can tolerate a sudden opening of the bite by several mm. contact is now on the back teeth instead of the front where the feedback comes from to control clenching and grinding

Call for advice: Call the doctor who provided the Invisalign treatment, right away. He or she should be able to help you, with advice over the telephone, adjustments to the tray or anti-inflammatory medications.
