McBurney's point...: ...is situated over the right side of the abdomen one-third of the distance from the anterior superior iliac spine to the navel. This point roughly corresponds to the most common location of the base of the appendix. There are variations in location of the appendix, & many other causes of right lower quadrant pain--please see my other HealthTap answers on the subject.

I have developed a sort of sharp pain in the area of my appendix, but I know it isn't an appendicitis. It only is painful if I have my weight on my right leg for a period of time and shift to my left leg. I sometimes turn, and it hurts. Thoughts?
