Medication effects: Thank you for informing about Canker sore, Hernia surgery and Colostomy. These stresses likely have caused Anxiety. Using with Lexapro can increase the risk of serious Serotonin Syndrome. It can be up to 2 weeks before Buspirone will work. Discuss with Psychiatrist •Decreasing and then discontinuing Lexapro •Therapy for stresses in your life •Ativan or Xanax (alprazolam) for Anxiety •Breathing Relaxation.

It can, it's just: weak compared to other benzos, but then again, it's not as addictive. These days SSRI's are used to treat anxiety because in 3/4 of major depression cases, anxiety comes along for the ride. The depression is the cause and the meds, being anti-depressants, lift the mood and help reduce the anxiety in the process. Like getting two for the price of one.
