Can lexapro (escitalopram) cause high blood pressure and if so is it a temp effect till anxiety gets under control?

Lexapro (escitalopram): In premarketing studies, hypertension was reported as a possible cardiovascular effect with lexapro (escitalopram). The incidence was unspecified. They did not explain whether this was temporary or not, but it has not been a common side effect in postmarketing studies. Anxiety can increase your bp.

Yes, see your Dr!: You don't say how high, but it can be a problem (also w/ other ssris) and you need the doctor to consider a different approach to your symptoms. Anxiety can be treated w/ other methods including non-drug or other drugs. Your body will probably restore itself off the lexapro, (escitalopram) but not likely before. Good luck. Take care!
