Go for it....: People have been taking off their own loose toenails for thousands of years. I see no reason why you can't do it as long as there are no health issues that would put you in jeopardy. Rather than just pulling, how about trying to gently clip it off in sections, at least the loose sections. If you get in over your head, then you may have to see a doctor.
