Our nails are: Transparent, and pick up the color from the nail bed which it's supposed to be adherent to. If there is a space between the nail and the flesh under it, the nail loses its pinkish color, which means your nail is lose and separating. While certainly no emergency, it would be a good idea to see a podiatrist to see why your nail is doing this. In many cases, small, repetitive trauma can do this.
