May be difficult : I suspect you mean that your mother does not recognize adhd as a true diagnosis, which is not that uncommon in the older generations. It would be helpful if you can provide her with the diagnostic criteria for this disorder and highlight the ones that apply to you. A timeline going back as far as you can recall showing how this has always been a struggle will also help. Good luck.

ADHD real?: Have the grandchildren spent a weekend with her! lol on a serious note, adhd is hard to explain as there are no tests to diagnose with..It is a disorder, not a disease..Perhaps by explaining that the child is suffering from symptoms that make carrying out every day life very difficult, she could understand..You need her support, not her approval or understanding ( though that would be helpful).
