It depends: If adhd is an issue for you (and not just for your mom), you may be interested in learning more about it. Sometimes, to understand better an issue that one may have, already brings a huge relief. There are many different options other than taking medications to effectively manage adhd. Self-help books and online blogs may help a lot. Good luck!

Risk benefit: What you should or shouldnt do really requires a personal evaluation - adhd varies in severity and as such it can have varying risks of not treating it, and variable possible benefits. Some are quite significant. Adhd is often a disorder in which the person with the adhd may have less awareness of impact, or is less disturbed by the behavior than spouses, employers or friends. It is treatable.
