We are all at risk: A single high dose of sugar won't cause diabetes. However, diabetes is increasingly common as high carb diets, obesity and lack of exercise cause diabetes. Binging on sugar temporarily impairs immune function so you could get an acute infection shortly after binging. It is wise for all of us to limit sugar consumption, but a rare binge should not cause lasting harm. See http://tinyurl.com/ber748c
