2-3 wks, then things: change somewhat. Initially the nerve root takes a hard fast hit,& is not happy. Pain, numbness. Muscle weakness is urgent. As the swelling from the herniation decreases symptoms are less. If the herniation is large you may never get out of the acute phase due to the large space it take up in a small space.Rx with NSAIDS help. B sure you are seeing a fellowship trained spine surgeon.
