No...: Protein is not bad if your kidneys are good....but you have to consume more calories...protein, carbohydrate and fat, to gain weight.

Too much protein.: It's OK to increase your protein intake, within limits of course. Your body does not require more than one gram of protein per kilogram of body weight, so in your case you should be eating no more than say 50 grams of protein daily, divided across four of five small meals, with fruits, vegetables and whole grains. And choose lean protein sources. Gaining weight is different than gaining fat.
