Fruits count: If you are trying to accurately account for all sugar intake, fruits can make up a significant proportion. Sugar in fruits is better because you are getting all of the micronutrients and fiber of the fruit, but it is still sugar. I generally recommend that total carbs account for less than half of your daily caloric intake. Most of these carbs should come from fruit, vegetable, and whole grain.
