Grams of carb: Carbs come to us as simple or complex, and in between. Simple carbs are OJ, doughnuts, white bread, brownies, muffins, etc. Complex carbs are whole grain oatmeal, apple, asparagus, etc. Glycemic index is the reference. We should consume LOW glycemic foods. Each carb gram provides 4 calories. Aim for less than 50 gm sugars/day - high glycemic. Aim for 140-180 gm low glycemic source. No sat fats.!
