Hi, i just received bloodwork tests back that showed a mildly elevated alt (46, with upper limit of normal 44). could a recent cold cause it?

Elevated ALT: A cold should not cause an elevated ALT level. Your elevation is very mild, and I would not recommend anything for it other than rechecking it in 2 to 3 months. If it remains elevated, you need to see your doctor about finding why it is so. If it comes back to normal, no further testing is probably necessary. Good luck.

Clinical correlation: All lab tests need to be clinically correlated. Meaning, it is best to discuss your lab findings with the physician who ordered the tests and knows your medical and surgical history, medications, allergies, review of symptoms, family history, vital signs, etc. Good luck.
