A member asked:

I found out my alt was slightly elevated (46, with upper limit of normal of 44). could a recent cold, buspar, (buspirone) or social drinking have caused this?

Transaminases: Your ALT is very close to the upper normal. ALT levels fluctuate. Physicians consider all of your liver function tests, not one in isolation. We want to consider your AST and ALT and the ratio between them, we want to know the Alkaline Phosphatase for obstruction, and the albumin and pro time for liver synthetic function. GGT, bilirubin helpful as well. Stay interested but calm & learn. Good luck.
